Nathan Trent became known in the Eurovision world after his performance at the 2017 contest. His entry, ‘Running On Air’ was one of the 10 qualifying acts, and ultimately finished in 16th place in the final. Since his performance at Eurovision, he has released a number of catchy singles!
Who is Nathan Trent?
Nathan Trent hails from Innsbruck in Austria, and has both Austrian and Italian roots. He first began writing songs at the age of 11, and has developed a signature style in the pop and R&B realm. Trent studied music, acting and dance, and during his education, performed in several shows and productions. After graduating, he moved to London to pursue his music career.
The Journey to Eurovision
In 2016, Nathan released his debut single titled ‘Like It Is’. Later that year, he was announced as the Austrian Eurovision representative for the 2017 contest. At the same time of his selection to represent Austria, he was also in the running to represent Germany at Eurovision. After it was determined that he would represent Austria, he was automatically eliminated from the German selection.
In February of 2017, his competing entry ‘Running On Air’ was released. During the lead up to the contest, he released a number of Eurovision covers, including ‘L’essenziale’, ‘Heroes’ and ‘I’m Alive’.  At the contest, Austria qualified in 7th place in the semi-final, and finished 16th overall in the final.
What Happened Next?
In June, Nathan released his Eurovision entry in Italian and Spanish. His follow up single after Eurovision was titled ‘Good Vibes’. The song was later remixed by fellow Eurovision entrant JOWST alongside AMBROS.
Early in 2018, he released ‘Won’t Let You Go’ alongside Poptracker. His next single in 2018 was titled ‘Secrets’ which was a collaboration with DJ and producer J-MOX. The song was also released in Spanish as ‘Secretos’.
Later in 2018, he released the song ‘Killer’. Nathan describes the song as a ‘wake-up call to break free from manipulation and the feeling of imprisonment within a relationship’. Despite the ominous description, the song is energetic and upbeat.
In 2019, his first single was titled ‘Legacy’. During 2019, he also released a number of covers on YouTube, including hit songs ‘What A Time’ and ‘I’m So Tired’. Returning to original tracks, he released ‘I Got Me’ in June of 2019.
Later in 2019, he released ‘Sweet Dreams’, and subsequently an acoustic version of the song.
In 2020, he released ‘Timeline’ with a lyric video. He also released ‘Millions’ with DJ and Producer J-MOX. His final single in 2020 was titled ‘Most of It’. Also in 2020, he was a main panellist on the first season of the Austrian version of the hit show, The Masked Singer. The winner of that season was fellow Eurovision representative, Nadine Beiler.
Nathan’s most recent single is titled ‘Growing Pains’ which was released with a music video.
