UK Decides: Joe and Jake to Eurovision!

Last night at the O2 Forum in London, BBC held You Decide, a national final to decide who would represent the big 5 nation at Eurovision, and ultimately try to bring success back to the UK. Mel Giedroyc was the host of the show, and the show kicked off with the winner of Eurovision 2015, Mans Zelmerlow.

There were six acts competing for this opportunity, listed below in order of performance:

  1. Dulcima– When You Go (Tomas Twyman)

  2. Matthew James –A Better Man (Helienne Lindvall, Andrew Fromm & Peter Kvint)

  3. Darline – Until Tomorrow(Roy Stride, Joshua Wilkinson, Duck Blackwell & Jack McManus)

  4. Karl William Lund – Miracle (Karl William Lund)

  5. Bianca – Shine A Little Light(Ash Howes, Cass Lowe, Leona Lewis & Richard Stannard)

  6. Joe and Jake– You’re Not Alone (Schwartz, Justin J Benson and S Kanes)

There was an expert panel which included Eurovision veterans including Carrie Grant (UK 1983) and Katrina (UK 1997 – winner). Although present, the panel did not vote as it was 100% televoting. The voting revealed that Joe and Jake were the winners, and would therefore take their song You’re Not Alone to Eurovision in May.

During the show there was also a tribute to the late Sir Terry Wogan, who was well known within the Eurovision community and beyond. He provided the BBC commentary on the radio and television between 1971 and 2008, and was a co-presenter in 1998 when the UK hosted the contest in Birmingham.

You can listen to the song below, and if you think Joe and Jake will win Eurovision, make sure to vote for them in our poll, which you can find here.
