Eurovision 2017: O’G3NE to represent The Netherlands!
The Netherlands are the second to announce their Eurovision act for next year, with host broadcaster AVROTROS announcing that the girl group O’G3NE will be flying the flag in Kyiv. This announcement for some comes as no surprise, as speculation that the girl group would represent the Netherlands goes back for months.
The group consists of three sisters, Lisa who is 22, and the twins Amy and Shelly who are 21. This is not the first time the girls have entered the Eurovision world, with the group representing the Netherlands at Junior Eurovision back in 2007 with the song Adem In, Adem Uit. Within the last 10 years, the girls have since won the Voice of Holland in 2014, and have had a number of chart hits.
This marks the 5th consecutive year that the participant for the Netherlands has been chosen via internal selection, which has since boosted their results at the contest – ending up in the final 3 out of 4 previous times. The nation last won Eurovision in 1975, and are well due for their next success story. Will O’G3NE end up in top position? Time will tell, with their song likely to be released next year.
The girls have said, ‘We are looking forward so much to once again represent our country. This is a new highlight in our career and we are going to do everything we can to make our country proud’
