Norway Grabs the Moment by choosing JOWST!

This year, Norway once again decided on a national final to decide upon their next Eurovision act. A record number of song submissions were received by the Norwegian broadcaster NRK, and out of the 1035 songs submitted, 10 were chosen to perform at Melodi Grand Prix.

The 10 competing acts were:

  • Ammunition – Wrecking Crew

  • Ulrikke – places

  • Amina Swali – Mestervek

  • JOWST – Grab The Moment

  • Kristian Valen – You and I

  • Elin & The Woods – First Step in Faith/Oadjebasvuhtii

  • Jenny Augusta – I Go Where You Go

  • Ella – Mamma Boy

  • Rune Rudberg Band – Run Run Away

  • In Fusion – Nothing Ever Knocked Us Over

This year saw the implementation of jury votes for the first time since 2013, and were applied during the first round of voting. There were 10 international juries from across Europe, including Armenia, Finland, Ireland, Israel, Malta, UK, Sweden, Germany, Hungary and Austria.

JOWST was the most popular with the juries, followed by Ulrikke, Ammunition and Ella. Four acts qualified to the ‘golden final’ of which only the public voted to decide the winner from these four. The top four were:

  • Ammunition – Wrecking Crew

  • Ulrikke – places

  • JOWST – Grab The Moment

  • Elin & The Woods – First Step in Faith/Oadjebasvuhtii

JOWST was announced as the winner of the competition, and will therefore be taking their song Grab the Moment at Eurovision in Kyiv. Listen to the song down below, and if you’re loving the choice Norway made, make sure to vote for them in our poll!
