It’s been a while since we’ve heard from 2016 Swedish representative Frans, but now he’s back with a new single titled Liar. This is his first release since June last year, where he released the song Young Like Us, and previous to that was his Eurovision hit ‘If I Were Sorry,’ which received huge commercial success.
The Swedish star took to social media to explain his absence from the music world, leaving this statement on his Instagram page:
‘Hi, Its time for me to release some new music now, but first I would like to use this space to tell you of my journey up to this point in time, where I am today, and why it has taken up until now to release new material. This past year has been extremely demanding in many ways. School has been my main focus, as well as all the incredible activity around the song “If I Were Sorry”. I have not really had time to stop and reflect on what has happened; instead I have just gone with it. School and music clashed more times than I could ever have imagined and this has forced me to rethink my strategy several times in order to make everything work. With help from my Mum and Dad, my friend and manager Fredrik and many others I have managed to find a way to make my day to day life work fairly well. This summer I am going to lock myself in the studio day and night to work on songs for my coming album. From this autumn, my sole focus will be to finish school and in June 2018 I graduate. After that I will be able to pursue the music career I’ve started. So until the summer of 2018 I will be out of the limelight but hopefully still being listened to. My new song “Liar” has been ready for a while now, and I remember going through many emotions creating this project with those close to me. I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we did making it. /Frans’
The song he’s treating us to has as a similar vibe to his Eurovision entry, If I Were Sorry, and it just shows he really knows how to nail the pop-ballad style. His voice lends itself to those deep and meaningful lyrics, and we can’t wait to hear his first full album!
