AISEL to represent Azerbaijan at Eurovision 2018!

More pieces of the Eurovision 2018 puzzle are starting to come together as we find out another artist for the 2018 contest. Azerbaijan was next to announce their act, and it will be 28 year old AISEL who will take to the stage for the land of fire!

AISEL was chosen internally by ICTIMAI TV, and many fans were surprised to hear the announcement come so soon in the national selection season, as the nation often leaves their announcements until later on in the season. ICTIMAI TV also hadn’t confirmed an announcement date, but it’s the kind of surprise we love! The broadcaster had a special board meeting to decide on their 2018 act, and they decided that AISEL would best represent the nation. The song that she will sing will come later, and judging by the usual process, we could be waiting until March until we hear the song the will represent Azerbaijan.

The question on everyone’s lips was, who is AISEL?

Although new to us, AISEL has been present in the music scene for many years. She has had extensive experience at jazz festivals not only in Azerbaijan but also in Russia, The Netherlands, Italy and more. Her style is based in jazz, although she also performs the styles of soul and lounge, so we don’t yet know what style her Eurovision entry might be, but with Salvador Sobral’s winning Eurovision song in mind, perhaps Azerbaijan will take the simple route and utilise her impressive voice.

Here are a few of her performances for you to get to know AISEL!
