Australia to Announce Eurovision Act on Monday!

Us Australians are usually (im)patiently waiting for broadcaster SBS to announce who will be representing the nation at Eurovision, but it’s a Christmas miracle because we won’t have to wait long at all to find out who will be the 4th Australian representative.

SBS have released a short video preparing viewers for the announcement, and instead of waiting for March to come around, we only have to wait until Monday the 11th of December. The negotiations with the artist may have been quick this year, meaning that the broadcaster can reveal the artist and begin to build up the excitement for Eurovision fans worldwide.

The video features Australia’s new set of commentators Myf Warhurst and Joel Creasey who joined the Eurovision team in 2017 taking over from long-term commentators Julia Zemiro and Sam Pang. In the video we see images from Eurovision’s passed, and then we see Myf and Joel discussing the act, and Joel whispers a suggestion to Myf, who responds with ‘Nah, you’ll never get them. Never.’

Some have suggested that the use of ‘them’ means we could be getting a group act, although perhaps only used to avoid revealing the gender of the artist. Perhaps it also means that the act is someone we all wanted, but never thought would participate at Eurovision? Let’s the conspiracy theories begin, but instead of overthinking the 30 second clip which is featured below, we’ll just have to wait until Monday to find out who will be representing Australia!

Tell us below who you would love to see represent Australia, and if you need some inspiration, check out our wish list from 2017!
