We’re not Lying: It’s Mikolas Josef to Eurovision 2018!

Czech Republic haven’t always had the best of luck when it comes to Eurovision, but this year, the Czech broadcaster excited fans with the return of a national selection, where the public had a chance to vote on which act they thought should represent their country in Lisbon.

Although the broadcaster chose a national selection as the format to choose their act, interestingly all of the process took place online. It kicked off with the reveal of the songs and video clips, and from there, the public were able to vote, while a jury also voted.

The finalists were:

  • Eddie Stoilow – We Rule This World

  • Pavel Callta – Never Forget

  • DOCTOR VICTOR – Stand Up

  • Mikolas Josef – Lie To Me

  • Eva Burešová – Fly

  • Debbi – High On Love

Before we found out the complete results, the broadcaster announced that Mikolas Josef won the jury vote, confirming his place as the front runner of the competition. Today, it’s confirmed that Mikolas Josef is the winner, and will be representing the Czech Republic at Eurovision this year. Watch his video for Lie To Me here:

Mikolas Josef is a composer, producer and singer, and he also plays various instruments and directs music videos. The mutli-talented artist grew up in the nation’s capital, Prague and also Znojmo, but now lives in Vienna. Mikolas comes from a musical family, and has played guitar since he was young.

Not only is he musically talented, but he also graduated from the English High School in Prague with grades good enough to make him eligible to study at top UK Colleges, however chose to focus on his musical career.
