Iceland Decides on the First Three Qualifiers!

Over the weekend the first of two semi-finals took place in Iceland, where a total of six participants performed what could end up being the Icelandic Eurovision entries. To get to that stage, of course, the acts must qualify through to the final, of which three acts did in this first semi-final.

As we know, the acts compete with both Icelandic and English language versions of their songs, and it’s in the semi-finals where the acts must perform in Icelandic, and then in the final the acts can choose which language to perform in, and the language that would be used at Eurovision if the participant makes it through to the competition.

Here are the semi-finalists:

  • Þórunn Antonía – Ég mun skína

  • Tómas & Sólborg – Ég og þú

  • Ari Ólafsson – Heim

  • Heimilistónar – Kúst og fæjó

  • Fókus – Aldrei gefast upp

  • Guðmundur Þórarinsson – Litir

The decision of who would qualify was completely up to the Icelandic public who voted for their favourites of the show. The public decided that these three acts would qualify:

  • Ari Ólafsson – Heim

  • Heimilistónar – Kúst og fæjó

  • Fókus – Aldrei gefast upp
