Earlier in the national final season, Armenian broadcaster AMPTV revealed the 20 competing acts in this year’s national selection, Depi Evratesil. This format has been used over the last two years, however this year the competition allowed the competing artists to perform their original songs, rather than using the selection as a process to choose the act only.
In each semi-final, a total of 10 acts will be competing for just 5 spots in the final, meaning we’ll see a final of 10 acts. Here is the line-up from semi-final 1:
-
Gevorg Harutyunyan – Stand Up
-
Angel – Heartbeat
-
Lusine Mardanyan – If You Don’t Walk Me Home
-
Zhanna Davtyan – Unbreakable
-
Mger Armenia – Forever
-
Nemra – I’m A Liar
-
Hayk Kasparov – Enamórame
-
Tamar Kaprielian – Poison (Ari Ari)
-
Robert Koloyan – Get Away With Us
-
Gata Band – Shoga
The voting was split between jury and televote, and the combined scores sent these five acts into the final:
-
Gevorg Harutyunyan – Stand Up
-
Lusine Mardanyan – If You Don’t Walk Me Home
-
Mger Armenia – Forever
-
Nemra – I’m A Liar
-
Robert Koloyan – Get Away With Us
Shockingly, one of the favourites of the show Tamar Kaprelian is out of the competition, however it’s not without a bit of drama. The former Eurovision artist posted on Twitter after her elimination, stating ‘Many many many many people have texted our team saying their sms votes in Armenia never went through.’ The Twitter realm responded to this, with Tamar retweeting a handful of tweets hinting that the Poison artist thinks there’s been a bit of foul play in this first semi-final.
