It’s No Joke! Laura Rizzotto to Represent Latvia!

This year Latvia continued on with their reformed national final format of Supernova, which has brought them success in both 2015 and 2016, and now we’ve reached the end of the Supernova journey for 2018. The final of this year’s national selection took place last night, where the final eight acts performed their competing entries.

Earlier this week it was announced that there would be an extra wildcard entry for the final. During the second semi-final, it was announced there was a voting mix up, and Markus Riva was meant to continue through to the final. As such, there were three qualifiers from semi-final two, and then an extra was selected, to create a final of eight. That final wildcard was Sudden Lights with the song Just Fine.

Here’s the line-up:

  • Sudden Lights – Just Fine

  • Ritvars – Who’s Counting?

  • MADARA – Esamība

  • Liene Greifane – Walk the Talk

  • Lauris Valters – Lovers Bliss

  • Edgars Kreilis – Younger Days

  • Laura Rizzotto – Funny Girl

  • Markus Riva – This Time

The voting was a mixture of both jury and televotes, and the winner was decided to be Laura Rizzotto, who originally qualified from the third semi-final with her song Funny Girl. Coming in second was Sudden Lights, the wildcard act, and in third was MADARA.
