It has been no less than two years since vocal sensation Dami Im took to the Eurovision stage with her song Sound of Silence, impressing Europe and beyond with her powerful vocals. The former X Factor winner gave Australia their best Eurovision result to date, finishing in second place behind the contest’s eventual winner Jamala.
It was a difficult task to follow the success of Australia’s debut performance by arguably one of our most loved and most successful Australian artists, Guy Sebastian, but Dami Im held her own on stage proving that she has one of the nation’s biggest voices.
Earlier this year, Dami released her 5th Studio album which peaked at 3rd in the Australian charts, and 11th in the Korean charts. The album is titled I Hear a Song, and features 14 beautiful tracks, 12 of which are a homage to the greatest women of song, plus two original tracks. With the album, Dami is proving her place as one of Australia’s greatest female musicians while also satisfying those who wanted to hear her beautiful voice once again.
With the new album came an intimate tour which was announced late last year with a start date of the 19th of April, and finishing in Darwin on the 17th of May. Since the tour coincided with the dates of Eurovision, Dami decided to reflect back on her time at the contest and perform a special acoustic version of her successful entry, Sound of Silence.
Although her Eurovision performance was grand, the acoustic version is truly special. Watch the performance below:
