A staple of the Greek music scene, Helena Paparizou has enjoyed a lengthy and successful career, both in Greece and abroad. With consistent releases, Helena is keeping her name in the mix by continuously proving her talent over a range of musical styles.
Her latest release, titled Kati Skoteino is proof that although Helena can bring the house down with an upbeat pop song, she can also equally impress with a killer ballad. Kati Skoteino is for me, one of her best releases to date. Admittedly, I don’t know her discography too well, but over the years have been introduced to a few gems, most of which have been in the upbeat, feel-good pop category.
Kati Skoteino is a stunning ballad that integrates traditional Greek sounds with a song that still feels contemporary. Even from the first few seconds it’s easy to get hooked, and as the verse builds, you are just waiting for an epic chorus of which she definitely delivers.
Even as someone who doesn’t understand the lyrics, the emotion is adequately portrayed in the vocals and as a result the song is very moving. The official music video has also been released, and it echoes the darkness of the song. Watch the video below:
