After a successful few years for Bulgaria, including a second place finish with Kristian Kostov at the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest, the nation unexpectedly withdrew from the 2019 contest.
It was unclear whether it was a one-off, or whether we would be seeing Bulgaria return in the near future, and it seems that a decision is yet to be made for Eurovision 2020. The nation had already ruled out a return to Junior Eurovision this year, however the Bulgarian broadcaster BNT took to social media to announce that a return could be on the cards for both Eurovision and Junior Eurovision.
The decision is still pending, as the broadcaster explains, but a decision will be communicated at the end of September.
