Amanda Aasa selected for Melodifestivalen 2020

The final of P4 Nästa has taken place in Linköping, where a total of eight finalists competed not only to win the contest, but potentially to become the first announced Melodifestivalen act for 2020. It can be the case that the winner of the radio competition goes to Melodifestivalen, however this is not always the case, and instead another finalist can be selected.

This year Tim Lööv won the competition, and as a result will have his song promoted on P4, however it will be Amanda Aasa who will go on to compete in Melodifestivalen next year. The song entered into P4 Nästa will not be her Melodifestivalen entry, as it was released prior to September 1, making it ineligible for the contest. However, you can listen to her P4 entry here

Here is the full list of finalists:

  • Faith Kakembo – Through Fire and Rain
  • Hildur Höglind – Further Apart
  • Hufo Andersson – Lovenote
  • Amanda Aasa – Gå hem
  • Zulueta – King of the Ocean
  • Tova Glyt – No Ordinary Girl
  • Tim Lööv – All I Need is You
  • Browsing Collection – Oh No

Since 2013, a participant of this music competition is selected to compete in Melodifestivalen, the Swedish Eurovision national selection. To date, no P4 Nästa competitors have reached the final of Melodifestivalen.

In 2019, The Lovers of Valdaro competed at Melodifestivalen as the P4 wildcards with the some Somebody Wants:
