Australia Decides confirmed for Eurovision 2020

After a successful debut year for Australia Decides, broadcaster SBS and production partner Blink TV have now announced that the national selection will be returning in 2020.

The show will be held at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition centre on the 8th of February, with the jury show (not televised) on the 7th of February. The show will once again be hosted by Australia’s Eurovision commentators, Joel Creasey and Myf Warhurst.

SBS is now calling for songwriters to submit their entries via sbs.com.au/Eurovision with the submission process closing on September 30th. Songwriters and composers have no limit to how many songs they can submit to the portal.

The competing entries and artists will be shortlisted and announced later in the year. Similar to last year, a total of 10 artists will be competing in the selection.

Creative Director for Eurovision, Paul Clarke has said, ‘Who will wear the crown? Which artist and song will represent Australia at Eurovision 2020? We are delighted to be working with Queensland and The City of Gold Coast to create Australia’s only original song contest for TV. We can promise we have the makings of another excellent Eurovision weekend on the way. There will be some surprises in the format, and some real surprises about who will be competing. Please Eurovision fans, don’t miss out – get your tickets early!’

The tickets for the show are now available for purchase here. There will be tickets for the Opening Night (the jury final on the 7th of February), the Matinee show (daytime show on the 8th of February) as well as the live final which will be broadcast across Australia.
