Georgian Idol has now concluded, and the winner has been crowned. Tornike Kipiani has won the vote, and will now represent Georgia at Eurovision in Rotterdam with a song yet to be revealed.

After a 10 week season, the final of Georgian Idol featured a total of four artists all competing to become the next Georgian Eurovision representative. The voting for the final consisted of 100% public voting through online voting and televoting.

The four finalists:

  • Barbara Samkharadze
  • Mariam Gogiberidze
  • Tamar Kakalashvili
  • Tornike Kipiani

The voting was close, however Tornike Kipiani finished on top with 33.82%, with Barbara Samkharadze in second place with 31.18% of the vote. In third place was Tamar Kakalashvili with 18.38%.

Tornike Kipiani first came to fame after winning the X Factor Georgia back in 2014. His mentor on the show was Tamta, who Eurovision fans will recognise as the Cypriot Eurovision representative from 2019. Tornike has also attempted to represent Georgia at Eurovision, having participated in the national selection in 2017, however did not win the competition with his song You Are My Sunshine.

During this year’s Georgian Idol, Tornike remained the hot favourite, having finished first in the public vote each week apart from the first live show.

The song that Tornike Kipiani will sing at Eurovision will be decided at a later date.
