After initially ruling out a Junior Eurovision return, Italian broadcaster RAI have now reversed their decision and confirmed their participation at this year’s contest.
The original decision to not participate was due to RAI’s policy of minors on television, as well as the focus being on Italy hosting the Eurovision Song Contest in 2022. Now, the broadcaster has confirmed that they will in fact return to the contest.
RAI hopes to replicate the success of Måneskin, and based on their previous appearances at Junior Eurovision, a win at the contest is certainly not a stretch. The Italian representative will be determined in November, and RAI Gulp and Rai Play will broadcast the contest on December 19th.
Italy last participated in 2019 with Marta Viola. She performed ‘La Voce Della Terra’ and finished in 7th place overall. Watch the performance below:
