2015 Reviews – Poland – Monika Kuszynska – In the Name of Love

Poland made an impact last year with Cleo and Donatan, and it was one of those acts which everyone remembers, even though it has been over a year since the 2014 contest. This year, Poland took more of a vanilla approach to Eurovision, with Monika Kuszynska.

The story behind the song, that being, Monika is paralysed from the waist down, is inspirational itself, as she has continued to pursue her passion for singing. However, similar to Finland, we have to judge the song away from the story behind it. Unfortunately, I don’t like this song. There are so many slow songs this year, and this one gets left behind in the pack.

I’m not a huge fan of her voice, and I find the melody to drag on. I think this would have done better as a song about 10 years ago. I don’t really have too much to say about this song actually, I just find that the three minutes drags on for what seems to be longer than 3 minutes… I’m slightly disappointed that this song will be closing the semi-final, but hey, nothing I can do about that!

I’m going to give this song a 3/10. Good on her for getting up on stage and performing a song with meaning!
