Let The Games Begin! Cyprus selects for 2017!

Cyprus has kicked off the Eurovision 2017 season by internally selecting the artist who will represent the country in May next year. National broadcaster CyBC has now announced that Hovig is their chosen act, and will be singing a song composed by Thomas G:son.

Hovig is a Cypriot performer with Armenian roots, and is no stranger to performing in front of fans, and no stranger to Eurovision. He participated in X Factor Greece back in 2009, alongside the 2012 Cypriot representative Ivi Adamou. He has also participated in the national final for Cyprus back in 2015, where he reached the top 6 with the dynamic ballad titled Stone in a River. This was the same year that Minus One participated in the national final, and they were internally selected in 2016 to represent Cyprus – so it turns out, there’s a bit of a trend happening! Further back, he also participated in the national final in 2010.

The song that Hovig will sing will be released at a later date, however we know that Swedish hit maker Thomas G:son will be composing the song. He is responsible for many Eurovision hits, of course including Euphoria.
