JESC 2016 Reviews – Armenia – Anahit & Mary – Tarber

Armenia has been one of the most successful countries in Junior Eurovision, with no less than two 3rd places, three 2nd places, and one 1st place. Armenia has never been outside of the top 10, which is an incredible feat, and a demonstration that Armenia just understands Junior Eurovision. This year, the duo of Anahit and Mary will be representing the nation with the song Tarber. Will it continue the long run of success for Armenia?

Short answer, yes, yes it will. Tarber is a modern, fresh and catchy song which will no doubt reach the same heights of its predecessors. The huge note at the start of the song, if nailed live will set the tone for the 3 minutes the girls have on stage. The chorus is extremely catchy, and even if you don’t remember the words, the melody will stick in your head. If performed like the studio version, this will be an absolute knock out on stage.

I hope the stage show is colourful and energetic just as the song is, as it will highlight the strengths of the song. I can already imagine funky outfits to suit the girls’ personalities, as it is a song about the differences we have, but no one is better than one another, and I think they can use this idea to create a really memorable performance. I really can’t wait to see what they do with the stage show!

Overall, I think this is a really strong contender. As more songs are being released, I think it has tough competition, but I have no doubts in my mind that this will end up in a high position, and as such, continue the success that Armenia has in Junior Eurovision. It’s a modern song, which is vocally just as impressive as what we have come to see in Eurovision from Armenia.

I’m going to give this a 9/10.
