Slovenia 2018: EMA Begins, and Here are the Finalists!

It’s been a hot minute since the Slovenian broadcaster RTVSLO announced their 16 national finalists, but the time has finally come, and the national selection has begun. This year saw a change in the EMA format, where all competing acts had to perform in Slovene or another minority language of the country.

There was only one semi-final, and all 16 acts performed for only 8 places in next week’s final. Four of the competing acts qualified through the public vote, while the other four were determined by a professional jury. Here are the 16 competitors:

  • Anabel – Pozitiva

  • BQL – Ptica

  • Gregor Ravnik – Zdaj je čas

  • Ina Shai – V nebo

  • Indigo – Vesna

  • KiNG FOO – Žive sanje

  • Lara Kadis – Zdaj sem tu

  • Lea Sirk – Ne, hvala!

  • ManuElla – Glas

  • Marina Martensson – Blizu

  • MILA – Svoboda

  • Nika Zorjan – Uspavanka – Lullaby

  • Nuška Drašček – Ne zapusti me zdaj

  • Orter – Kraljica

  • Proper – Ukraden cvet

  • Tanja Ribič – Ljudje

We don’t yet have the breakdown of the jury and televote results, but what we do know is the important part – who will be in the final! Here are the qualifiers:

  • BQL – Ptica

  • Ina Shai – V nebo

  • Indigo – Vesna

  • Lara Kadis – Zdaj sem tu

  • Lea Sirk – Ne, hvala!

  • Marina Martensson – Blizu

  • Nuška Drašček – Ne zapusti me zdaj

  • Proper – Ukraden cvet

These eight acts will compete again on the 24th of February, where the winner will go on to represent Slovenia at Eurovision this year.
