Eurovision Union’s Weekly Playlist (3/52)

Every week, we’re bringing you a specially curated playlist featuring songs that were recently released by some of our favourite Eurovision or national final artists, alongside a few of our older favourites. This week, we’ve got a bunch of new releases, plus some tunes inspired by the Eurovision news of this week.

Here’s the playlist:

We’ve now had three national selections take place, and inspired by those, we’ve picked a few favourites from artists of Belarus, Albania and Georgia. We have Teo, who hosted the Belarusian national final, and also participated in Eurovision 2014 with one of my all-time favourite entries, Cheesecake. Additionally, we’ve featured second place Nuteki, who once again have just missed out on Eurovision. We are absolutely loving Navi, although we think Nuteki would have also been a good option for Eurovision.

From Albania, we’ve featured one of our favourite previous Eurovision participants, Kejsi Tola with a song she performed at another one of Albania’s song festivals, Kenga Magjike. This is a bit more of a sophisticated than her Eurovision entry – which we also liked, however this is one of her best. From Georgia, we’ve got last year’s entry by Nika Kocharov and Young Georgian Lolitaz – an unlikely favourite.

More news has come out of Denmark, where the participant list has now been released for Dansk Melodi Grand Prix. Returning is Australia’s Anja Nissen, and because the songs aren’t released yet for the 2017 contest in Denmark, we’ve featured her national final song from 2016. Also from Denmark, Emmelie de Forest, who has apparently written a song for the UK national final. We’ve featured one of our favourites of hers, called Drunk Tonight.

Speaking of the UK, Joe and Jake have only just released a new song called Tongue Tied, which you can also find on the playlist this week. It’s a catchy number, and it just gets us excited to see what else they will release in the near future – and hopefully we don’t have to wait too long!

We also have a good showing from the neighbours Finland and Sweden. From Finland, we’ve featured one of Softengine’s newer releases, and our 2016 Album of the Year winner Mikael Saari with the duet Dialogue.

Neighbours Sweden get a shout out with Eric Saade’s Girl From Sweden, an incredibly catchy pop number. We’re also still absolutely obsessed with Erik Rapp, so we’ve featured another song off his recent EP, Lovers. Robin Stjernberg has recently hinted at a new project coming up soon, but for now, we have his most recent song Rain.

The Greek’s have also ended the rumours, and we now know Demy will represent the nation with a song we haven’t yet been able to hear. For now, we’ve featured Isovia Mazi, the Greek version of Poli Genova’s If Love Was a Crime for you to enjoy! Another Greek singer, Helena Paparizou has also been featured, although the song Survivor was actually for Sweden’s Melodifestivalen a few years back!

We’re still patiently waiting for Italy’s Sanremo, but for now, we can enjoy one of our favourite Italian artists Marco Mengoni with one of his recent releases, Sai Che. We have also just recently featured an artist profile on Dutch participant, Anouk, so it only made sense to share one of our favourite Anouk tunes! Sirusho also makes an appearance with the catchy PreGomesh.

Lastly, we’ve featured former Israeli artist Nadav Guedj, with another smooth song called Make You Mine, Maria Olafs with her Eurovision entry Unbroken, as well as Jedward – who have just been a part of Celebrity Big Brother.

Tell us which songs you enjoyed from our playlist, and which songs you would love to see in next week’s playlist! Make sure to follow us on Spotify to keep up with our weekly playlists, and of course Twitter and Facebook to chat with us and other Eurovision fans!
