Eurovision Union’s Weekly Playlist (9/52)

Each week, we’ve been creating specially curated playlists featuring some of our most loved tunes of the week from both Eurovision and National final artists, both new and old. In this week’s playlist, we’ve got some of the newest 2017 Eurovision entries, and a whole bunch of national final songs we’re loving at the moment.

Listen to the playlist here:

We’ll start with the new Eurovision 2017 entries, including sister act OG3NE from the Netherlands who we just learnt will be singing the song Lights and Shadows which is inspired by their mother’s struggle with illness, and written by their father. We’ve also got Aussie Anja Nissen who was 2nd time lucky in the Danish national final with the song Where I Am. From Cyprus we’ve got Hovig, who will be performing the song Gravity which was penned by Thomas G:son of Euphoria fame. Lastly, we’ve got Running On Air, which will be sung by Nathan Trent on behalf of Austria.

This week we’ve also got new music from former Eurovision artists, including Can Bonomo who just released his 4th studio album only days ago. We’ve featured the song Yan, which opens the album, and off first impressions, it’s our early favourite off the album. There’s also Barei, who represented Spain in 2016, and she’s just come out with a single called I Don’t Need to Be You and it’s bound to be a hit with its modern pop sound. From Israel, we’ve got Harel Skaat who has recently released a song called Ahava Mesovevet Hakol, which we’re also loving.

Continuing with this theme, we’ve got Latvia’s Justs, who also performed in the 2016 contest, and while we wait for his most recent release to hit Spotify, we’ve featured one of his other post Eurovision songs called Ko Tu Dari. Also from 2016 is Amir, who just released a video for the song Au Coeur de Moi, the title track off his recent album. We’ve also got 2012 Swiss participants Sinplus, who just released a song called Y&I.

Moving on to national finals, and we’ll start with Melodifestivalen, which is now drawing to a close with only the final to be held. We’ve got Loreen with her hyped up tune Statements, which we have just found out overnight will not be continuing to the final, much to the surprise of the fans. Also out of the competition is Axel, who had one of the most upbeat pop songs of the competition with När Ingen Ser. Another act who got left behind in the semi-finals is Alice with the song Running With Lions, but someone who will be competing in the final is Nano, and as a favourite, we’ve featured his song Hold On.

We’ve also got some songs from artists who featured in recent national finals across Europe. This includes Tayanna, who lost out to O.Torvald in the Ukrainian national final. We’ve got her song I Love You in the Ukrainian verson, which is just as beautiful as the English. Going back to Denmark, we’ve also got A.S.A.P which was in the top 3 in the Danish national final as sung by Johanna Beijbom. From the Lithuanian national final we’ve got Like I Love You, which is performed by Greta Zazza, and will be continuing to the final. Lastly, we’ve got the new single from Italy’s Clementino, who we featured this week as one of the three artists who have got albums releasing this month.

In addition, we’ve got Yodel It, which seems to be unbeatable in Romania’s national final which will take place tonight. Lastly, keeping with the Romanian theme, we’ve got Playing With Fire, which was our Eurovision Throwback of this week.
